Go Underhill, the landmark Community Hub development in Mumbles which recently opened, is now protected by a series of systems including Fire Safety, CCTV and an Intruder Alarm thanks to Plexus FS.

The project, which was overseen by Business Development Manager Tom Balfry, is part of an ongoing project at the site, however, thanks to the work of the Plexus FS team, the facility is now fully protected.

“This was a huge project for Mumbles,’ said Tom, “so to be able to play a role in the safety and security of the site was a proud moment for us.”

Working through the lead M&E Contractors RDM Electrical & Mechanical Services, the landmark project included:

Fire Safety System
With 40+ fire detection units covering the entire site, including:
– Changing rooms
– Coffee, Bar and Communal Area
– Toilets
– On-site office
– Storage rooms for local sports teams
The single panel, Advanced Fire Alarm System by Hochiki, keeps staff, players, supporters and members of the public safe from fire hazards.

CCTV
As a community park, the site is accessible 24/7, so CCTV was of vital importance to both deter criminal activity but also to protect the people using the facility as well as the materials stored there.

The system installed included 16+ vandal-proof cameras that featured dome cameras for the internal areas (providing a wide field of view), as well as turret-style cameras for the external areas.

All cameras feature the Colorvu, low-light imaging technology that provides pin-sharp, full-colour HD footage even in low-light conditions as well as a speaker system to deter individuals from committing any anti-social behaviour.

Intruder Alarm
The project also included the installation of a Texecom Intruder Alarm system, which, like the fire system, is monitored 24/7 by the Plexus FS team.

The project took 6 months to complete and was finished in the Summer of 2023 in time for the official opening of phase 1 of the site.
Phase 2, which includes a new 4g, multi-use sports pitch, will also see the Plexus FS team expand the CCTV coverage of the site to include the new pitch and surrounding area.
